In Japan, a drug blocking the reproduction of coronavirus was discovered.
Japanese biologists during the study found that nelfinavir used in the treatment of HIV can reduce the replication activity of the causative agent of coronavirus infection COVID-19.
The results of the study are published on the bioRxiv portal.
The researchers found a decrease in the replication activity of the pathogen COVID-19 after exposure to nelfinavir on virus particles.
“These results show that nelfinavir may be a potential drug for the treatment of COVID-19 and its effectiveness should be tested in patients with coronavirus,” the commentary says.
Earlier, the FMBA of Russia proved the antiviral activity of the drug Mefloquine against the pathogen COVID-19.
