My favorite part of the Benjamin Franklin biography I’m reading so far:

"Fortunately, Franklin acquired something that was perhaps just as enlightening as a Harvard education: the training and experiences of a publisher, printer, and newspaperman."

His father didn’t put him into Harvard because he said they couldn’t afford it, although apparently that wasn’t true. Worked out in his favor though it seems.

Just makes me think about how lucky we are to have the ability to train ourselves these days, and even follow a similar path to Franklin, training and experiencing what it’s like to write and publish on our own. It’s a different era for sure, but I just smiled a little while reading this part and I wanted to share my thoughts.

(This is from the biography of Benjamin Franklin written by Walter Isaacson)
