The School Of The Future

Modern schools in developed countries look not the same they used to 50 years ago. The first most significant difference is much less paper. Instead of looking for information in bulky encyclopedias and catalogues, teachers and children use electronic databases and Wikipedia. But it is only the beginning. Leading Google experts tried to imagine how it would look like in 50 years.

Total Cooperation

Jonathan Rochelle, a director of Google department Apps for Education, supposes that by 2066, due to the spread of virtual technologies and additional reality, the cooperation between pupils will increase. Nowadays, if pupils need to work at one shared project they have to meet in one place, commonly in school, but in the future they will not have to do it as technologies will provide more opportunities for remote work.

In 2006 Rochelle was one of the developers of Google Docs package. Since then he has been working at many similar products, in particular at Google Classroom cloud platform that allows to improve and simplify the work of a teacher. Rochelle supposes that in the future schools will use such services on permanent basis, because even today we can see how the Internet is changing all spheres of our life. “We shouldn’t ignore the importance of social interaction and cooperation”, says Rochelle.

In the future children will be assessed and directed with the help of intellectual algorithms. It stands without saying, that we will not have fixed classes of children of the same age. Since the beginning of educational courses, the groups will be formed for each separate subject or aspect considering the abilities of pupils.

Such a system will allow to use the whole educational process more efficiently. Moreover, it will help to develop the abilities and skills that are predominant for each child that will result in early and successful career orientation.

Educational programs will also be formed individually, accordingly with pupils desires. Of course, there will be some general curriculum compulsory for all children. But then the technology, taking into consideration capacities and desires of each person, will decide what course will be optimal for the person. This will create the conditions to educate professionals and experts in some specific fields.

Robots and Teachers
The School Of The Future

The artificial intelligence has been improved a lot for 50 years and now devices can teach sometimes even better then live teachers. Even today in some Japanese banks human like robots are working as cashiers and porters near the door. By 2066 such robots can work as teachers. However, may be we will see such robots even earlier. We are likely to experience such changes really soon.

However, nobody can replace live teachers and the feedback they can provide. Besides, they will have to help engineers and scientist to introduce this school reform. Experts will not be able to cope with such a difficult task without the help of teachers knowing many peculiarities of work with children.

9 Free Business Productivity Tools For Startups

Starting a business can be a daunting endeavor, especially if all you have is a cool product and not enough capital. In the tech world, or in any other niche for that matter, most startuppers fail not because they have bad products but because they are unable to generate enough consumer interest in their products.

Considering overheads and other back-office expenses, this scenario doesn’t come as a surprise. So if you’re still starting out and find yourself strapped for much needed funding to keep your startup afloat, the following free business productivity tools are worth checking out.

Series B – Say What!?

"Series B – Say What!?"

I hate it when people assume I know something I could easily understand if they'd just get out of their own little world and get into mine. Such an instance occurred just a few days ago with this article which discussed the new buzzword, 'market network'.

Notice that at the end of the very first sentence you see the phrase, "…HoneyBook announced a $22 million Series B*.

My very first reaction to that was, "Whaaat??!!" But as I read through the article I sort of got the general idea of what they were talking about…"Series B"….yeah, sure. Like…money and investiing and stuff. But frankly I don't like it when writers use terms that their readers probably aren't familiar with. It's very frustrating to people who actually read. NB: Some people talk that way too… but that's another article.

It's frustrating because written communication doesn't have the benefit of the spoken word and face to face contact….i.e. visual signaling through eye contact, body language, and trial closes. For that reason, a writer who wants people to understand and appreciate what they're writing will seldom, if ever, use terms the reader isn't likely to know.

As the inquisitive guy I am, I did some research on the term Series B. That term simply refers to one of the earlier stages in the equity funding of a company (NB: "equities" usually refers to stock ownership, i.e. ownership interests or positions in a business entity).

Here is an informative page with some text which explains what Series B means and also has a very short video explaining the term. If you're a Markethive community member you would be wise to have an interest in such things because we´´ might be closer than most of us realize to being involved in such a thing…i.e. we might be doing our own Series B in the near future.

Another item from the article that I thought worthy of reiteration and illustration is the following diagram:

It thought it would be worthwhile to remind readers that the green circle is a type of site that most of us are already very familiar with. The green circle is social sites like Facebook. Our fearless leader, Tom Prendergast, CEO of Markethive, has recently pointed out something that many us already knew, i.e. the world doesn't need another Facebook. The majority of content on Facebook and similar sites is worthless drama, meaningless sabre-rattling and posturing, pontificating, and bullshit. The world really doesn't need any more time-wasters like Facebook.

The other type of site, the 'marketplace' type of site on the left side of the diagram, is a more recent development on in the internet environment. We know those too. They are sites like AliBaba, Amazon, and Etsy, and other, where vendors sell stuff. People go to these sites because they have a regard for the quality and/or service they get there.

The third circle, the blue one, is represented by a term that few people outside certain niches of the internet know… "SaaS" or 'Software as a Service'. This is simply a useful functionality of some sort which you use via your computer. The difference is that the software that makes it happen isn't on your computer. It's somewhere else.

What is unique about 'market networks', as represented by the confluence of these three circles, is that it uses SaaS to facilitate the connection between the networks of people (i.e. the consumers) to the marketplaces that have something they're looking for.

The market network also removes most of the burden of traffic generation from the vendors on the marketplace too. Traffic that they have previously had to acquire on their own, by more circuitous and laborious means, is now facilitated by the interconnection with the 'networks'.

For example, eBay, Amazon, and AliBaba sellers previously had to hustle to get attention to their 'stalls' in their respective marketplace. As I understand, on a market network site, the presumption is that their value proposition will be a bit more apparent and they will be able to focus more on their own quality and service and less on 'getting traffic' with the presumption that the consumer, i.e. the average dudes from the green circle, will have a better buying experience.

In my view, the most unique factor in this new marketplace paradigm is the software itself and the design elements of the systems themselves. Conceivably there could be some differences between various market networks relative to what product or service they actually deliver, i.e. consumer goods vs. travel services vs. financial services, etc.

One this is certain: People or organizations who can figure out and actualize these ideas will make a lot of money. In fact, considering that the term itself is brand-new, it might even be that there are some entities on the internet that are closer to already being a functional market network that even they themselves realize (Markethive.com?)

It's even conceivable that there could be market networks specifically for home based business opportunities…. keeping in mind that it is no longer true that a legitimate business has to even have a centralized geo-presence anywhere. It doesn't.

So, we see how the face of business is changing as the ways that buyers and sellers connect with each other. The internet has made this possible. Basic fundamentals indeed are changing and this is a good time for entrepreneurs who see it for what it is and/or are interested in pushing boundaries.

And it's also easy to see that these changes are probably pretty scary to established players who aren't very excited about having to go back to work to reinvent their business model.

To project a bit further into the future, just imagine what a new definition of 'money' itself will do the nature of entrepreneurship, business, and society. I'm referring of course to cyber currency.

If you're a home based business entrepreneur you will recall that over the last few years there have been several cyber currency scams in the MLM niche. All of them have gone down in flames. People apparently really 'ate it up' what they were offering.

I was one who wrote in several articles (with a previous employer) that I would never consider any cybercurrency centric MLM opportunity. But what would happen if somebody was able to really pull it all together, do it correctly and legally, and make the idea of cyber currency work in a Denentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) encompassing Market Networks?

Depending on your perspective, these ideas are either fascinating and exciting or scary and foreboding.

50 Ways Entrepreneurship Will Change Your Life

I’ve seen tons of articles talking about what personality and skills you need to become an entrepreneur, but while certain qualities can help you become more successful as an entrepreneur, anybody can become one.

Related: 8 Entrepreneurial Qualities That Contribute to Success

The experience of being an entrepreneur changes you, fundamentally, from the way you think to the way you act and the way you want to live your life. Most of the time, it’s for the better, and occasionally for the worse, but entrepreneurship will change your life. Here are 50 ways:

1. You become passionate about working. Success in entrepreneurship depends on following your passions.

2. You wonder how you ever held a normal job. Each day, that typical office-based 9-to-5 lifestyle seems stranger and less appealing to you.

3. You think critically about everything. Being in control makes you evaluate everything, from your morning coffee to the arrangement of your living room furniture.

4. New experiences become a commodity. You crave new experiences because you know they’re a gateway to new insights.

5. Everything can turn into an idea. Every object, situation and experience you encounter becomes a potential platform for a new idea.

6. You see the potential in everyone. You see the strengths and weaknesses in people, sometimes immediately, and imagine their great potential.

7. You can reduce most things to numbers (if you choose to). Entrepreneurs have to objectively analyze very subjective topics — the result is your ability to objectively analyze almost everything.

8. You get a new perspective on common situations. Some things seem more important, and others wholly unimportant.

9. You don’t care about small failures. When you stumble, make a mistake or lose something, those failures somehow don't seem as bad.

10. You embrace criticism and feedback. When someone points out something you’re doing wrong, you embrace that feedback as an opportunity to improve.

11. You support other people’s passions. You know the value of passion and support it in others.

12. You appreciate personal freedom more. Once you’ve tasted it, there’s no going back.

13. You make decisions more easily. After making 100 decisions a day, all other decisions in life seem easy.

14. Your problems seem smaller. Your daily crises pale in comparison to what you face as a company leader.

15. Your brain never turns off. You find yourself thinking and brainstorming all the time, with no reprieve.

16. You constantly want to learn new skills. You’re thrilled at the notion of how much you have left to learn.

17. You read more than you ever did before. Books, news, articles . . . you love to absorb new information.

18. You want to meet new people more than ever. You realize the value of new connections, and love to meet interesting new people.

19. You can’t just do nothing. If you feel as if you aren’t making progress at something, you go crazy.

20. Everything becomes a productivity challenge. You want to make everything as efficient as possible.

21. You want to tinker with everything. Your life is a giant experiment.

22. You have an easier time speaking in public. The pressure is off, you become more confident; and speaking becomes easier.

23. You work harder for things. You know your rewards are proportional to the work you put in, so you work harder at everything.

Related: 25 Common Characteristics of Successful Entrepreneurs

24. You aren’t afraid to say no. When you don’t want to do something, you feel less pressure to say yes.

25. You feel accomplished. Whether you've produced a success or a failure, you’re proud of what you tried to do.

26. You never feel bored. Even in dull moments, you find yourself entertained with complex thoughts and brainstorming patterns.

27. You feel in control of your own destiny. You truly feel in charge of your life.

28. You see patterns in chaos. That crazy traffic can be reduced to a series of actions of and reactions by reasonable drivers facing specific conditions.

29. You care less about your comfort zone. You’ve broken your comfort zone so many times it no longer exists.

30. You’re more confident in your abilities. You feel sure of yourself in certain key areas.

31. You want to experiment all the time. Everything is alive, and everything can be changed for the better.

32. You think more about your community. If your business relies on your community, you think more about giving back.

33. You see “work” and “fun” as no longer mutually exclusive. You know there’s a difference only if you make one.

34. You become a teacher. You want to share your knowledge and experience with others.

35. You become an even better student. You’re always eager to learn something new from anyone who wants to teach it.

“Cultivation”, it’s forever dependent by yourself.

If you found yourself not progressing in life,

you cannot blame and put the responsibility on your company for not grooming you.

1. What you do every night is important

My major in college was marketing, but I expect to become a designer.

So I practiced day and night,

picking up some freelance work to improve my design skills.

It took me a long time.

When I became a boss, I no longer need to involve myself in design work,

So I went back to the Marketing field.

Every day, when my children are sleeping,

I began learning to gain more knowledge, this again took me a long time,

But I begin to realise my returns.

If I rely on my working hours to gain skills,

then I will never have become a creative director and a product manager,

or like today, teaching MBA students on Marketing.

What I rely on, is myself giving myself “lessons”.

And the most successful people I knew, walked the same path as I am.

I have a friend who is a History graduate,

but he is interested in technical sales,

In the day, he does telemarketing, at night he learns how to code,

Finally, he became the vice president of sales in a startup company.

Now, he’s a CTO.

I have another friend, he received a degree in political science.

But he’s very interested in entrepreneurship.

he learnt a lot of knowledge on how to start up a company,

eventually, he founded a company and sold it,

Now he has reaped the rewards.

For them, what they do between 6 pm till 12 midnight,

is what determined their future.

Clearly, we need to balance life and work.

If you have a wife and children, every night, you have to stay with them.

Even if you are single, you also need a reasonable allocation of time to go to the gym, to meet with friends, or be alone to meditate and so on.

Of course, watching movies, playing games is good.

But there are things you do not need to do.

For example, watching the new season of a Netflix drama,

14 hours per week watching television (This is the average amount of time watching television).

The time spent playing the game Candy Crush.

Or spending time stalking your high school alumni on Facebook,

it does not seem to be good.

So what should you do?

2. Read more, anything will do!

My college mentor was born in Alabama,

A poor African family.

He was admitted to West Point Military Academy, and he became the first person in the family to go college.

Before going to Havard for his MBA, he’s a trained officer.

When I met him, he has already developed his career in the city of Colorado Springs.

I asked him, what’s his biggest success?

He replied, because he kept the habit of reading,

and he never stopped.

He believed that if you want to get what you want in life,

knowledge is the key.

He often asked his interviewees what book are they reading now,

the excellent ones can give an answer immediately.

Reading can give you a good headstart,

this is often what your peers cannot obtain.

Compared to others,

you are more likely to know other industries strategies and tactics,

and that may be helpful to your company.

You can transfer your knowledge within the organization,

create new possibilities for your company.

Moreover, your conversation topics will become more interesting.

Anthony Robbins said:

“If you spend one hour a day to learn about a topic,

a year later, in this regard,

the knowledge you gain will be more than 99.999% of the world’s people.”

Even if you have 30 minutes every night,

each week you can easily read a book.

You may not be an expert, but I promise,

you’ll know more than what your peers know.

3. Do some projects

You can apply the knowledge learnt to real work scenario,

this is only an ideal state.

If your company did not give you this opportunity,

create opportunities for yourself.

You can do some volunteer projects. They can bring you fame.

Working with a team,

you’ll understand how things work.

In the practical application of the industry,

and how it ultimately affect actual customers.

You’ll learn how to perform the task and meet deadlines,

and get feedbacks on what you are doing,

and benefit from it.

When you are not strong enough, these experience may not have any value to you.

But you are still a novice.

these experiences are far more valuable than the miserable pay you are getting.

If you can really convince others of your pockets of fruits of labour,

Then go try it. But do not let these private jobs affect your work.

4. Actively build your connections

In your career path,

a strong network of connections will make everything accelerate.

If you have not set up your own personal connections,

you’ll need to divide a portion of your time to do this.

A strong network of relationships, can enable you:

contact smart friends, and learn their opinions
get information and knowledge that are difficult to obtain
help the company look for more potential partners
or income generating opportunities
Go get to know your work colleague or boss…..

If you are an entrepreneur,

your network connections will be your early customers,

your staffs are a source of capital

rather than go home, or going to a bar,

you should find some inner circles.

There are many small groups which are highly relevant to your career.

You should try to integrate into these circles.

Every week, you can drink coffee together with new friends,

go drinking or have breakfast.

You can also look into everyone’s career developments on LinkedIn.

And establish a network with mentors in those professional industries.

They may be your next job employer, who knows?

Your connections will be your most powerful asset in the workplace.

Since you have time to watch “The Voice of China”,

you have time to build a social network.

5. The CHANGE of your LIFE starts TONIGHT

6 pm to 12 am, you go home, though physically and mentally tired,

you are free to do anything and do not have to take orders from others.

During this time,

you can switch off like switching off your computer at your workplace, switch off your brain.

But you can also do something,

make you smarter, stronger, have a wider network of people.

From the start tonight, take an hour a day to do these things,

I guarantee that after a year,

your career, and life will change.

ShareShare After work, is what determines your future! Spend one hour per day doing these 5 things and your life will change forever!

The Chinese billionaire who wants to out-Tesla Tesla

Jia Yueting has all the trappings of a successful Chinese tech entrepreneur with global ambitions.

A self-made billionaire who got his start as the IT guy at his local tax bureau, Jia’s flagship internet-video company now sports a $15 billion market capitalization and a buy rating from Goldman Sachs Group Inc. Donning hoodies and t-shirts, he boasts of plans to take on Apple Inc. in smartphones and surpass Tesla Motors Inc. in electric cars. Jia’s Faraday Future has lured staff from Ferrari and BMW, and won the backing of Nevada’s governor to construct a $1 billion auto plant in North Las Vegas — about 400 miles from where Tesla broke ground on a giant battery factory in 2014.

Yet for all of Jia’s accomplishments, the 43-year-old tycoon has failed to win the confidence of one key man. Dan Schwartz, Nevada’s treasurer, says he’s skeptical Jia can secure financing for the car plant, a project that needs government support for power lines, water mains and roads. Schwartz, the former CEO of a private-equity research firm in Hong Kong, wants more transparency on the funding before signing off on state bonds for $120 million of infrastructure improvements.

The crux of Schwartz’s concern is Jia’s reliance on equity-backed loans, a financing strategy that could leave Nevada taxpayers vulnerable to the whims of China’s volatile stock market. Jia has pledged 87 percent of his holdings in Leshi Internet Information & Technology Corp. — his flagship firm — for cash that he then plowed back into his companies, regulatory filings show. The stock, which was halted in Shenzhen for the first five months of 2016, has dropped 11 percent since it resumed trading on June 3, a move that heightens Schwartz’s fear that a margin call could prevent Jia from funding the plant.

“You can see where this leads,” Schwartz said in a phone interview. “His Internet company is successful, but that doesn’t generate the billions of dollars he’d need. Where’s he going to get the money?’’

The financing questions surrounding Jia’s foray into the U.S. electric-car market are becoming more common around the world as China Inc. embarks on an unprecedented overseas shopping spree. The nation’s firms, which boosted outbound direct investment by 62 percent in January-May from a year earlier, are branching out even as rising debt levels and weak profits at home cast doubt over their ability to secure stable funding.

Financing Plans

Faraday, whose 1,000-horsepower concept car has drawn comparisons to the Batmobile, says it has the full support of Nevada’s governor and is pushing forward with the city of North Las Vegas on infrastructure planning. The 800-employee carmaker — a separate company from Leshi that’s majority-owned by Jia — has sought to address Schwartz’s concerns, but could “technically” build the plant without the state bonds, Faraday spokeswoman Stacy Morris said in an e-mailed reply to questions.

Jia has invested more than $300 million of his own money into Faraday and the firm will announce a round of outside funding within weeks, said Winston Cheng, a former Bank of America Corp. investment banker who now runs corporate finance for Jia’s companies. He said the size of the funding would be “meaningful” and come from Asian investors, while declining to provide more details.

“I don’t understand why he’s trying to kill these high end jobs in the state of California and Nevada,” Cheng said in an interview, referring to Schwartz. “It baffles me.”

Goldman Bullish

City, county and regional government agencies are already working with Faraday on infrastructure for the plant, and the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development has approved funding for worker training, the GOED said in an e-mailed response to questions from Bloomberg. Tesla — which is named, like Faraday, after a 19th century pioneer in the field of electricity — declined to comment.

Leshi, the publicly-traded centerpiece of Jia’s empire, shows few signs of financial distress. Profits increased 20 percent in the first quarter, while its quick ratio, a gauge of the firm’s ability to meet obligations over the coming year, is in line with the median for Chinese companies as a whole, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Leshi’s Altman Z score, a measure of bankruptcy risk, suggests trouble is unlikely.

Analysts are bullish on the stock, with 9 of 11 forecasters tracked by Bloomberg giving it the equivalent of a buy rating. Goldman Sachs issued a price target of 70.22 yuan on June 22, or 35 percent above its Monday close. The bank declined a request to interview its Leshi analyst.

Investors are less sanguine, with Leshi shares sinking for six straight days after they resumed trading last month. At 105 times projected earnings for this year, the stock is more than twice as expensive as the median China-listed company. The firm has recorded negative cash flow for the past two quarters, data compiled by Bloomberg show. Shares slipped as much as 0.9 percent on Tuesday, before closing 0.4 percent higher.

Stock Loans

“It’s a matter of time before problems emerge,” said Wang Zheng, the Shanghai-based chief investment officer at Jingxi Investment Management Co., which oversees about $300 million and is avoiding Leshi shares in part because of concerns over its financing strategy. The company’s high valuation reflects the appeal of “concept” stocks among Chinese individual investors, Wang said.

Jia and his family have pledged about $5 billion of Leshi shares as collateral for loans, amounting to a 35 percent stake, according to data compiled by Bloomberg from the company’s first-quarter report. Jia also sold 2.5 billion yuan ($375 million) of Leshi shares in June 2015 and lent the proceeds back to Leshi to "relieve the company’s financing pressure.” He later entered into a contract with an asset management firm to exchange 100 million shares, or about 5.3 percent of the company, for cash that he then lent to Leshi interest-free. Jia pledged to repurchase the stake after Leshi repays the money.

“The company is capital strapped,” said Dai Ming, a money manager at Hengsheng Asset Management Co. in Shanghai.

State Politics

For Schwartz, Jia and Faraday Future need to explain more clearly how they plan to provide stable financing for the Nevada project. Only then would he consider supporting a state debt sale to fund the plant’s infrastructure. He said it’s his role as treasurer to bring the bond before the state’s board of finance, whose chairman is the governor, for approval.
