While I Kept Partying, My Parents Kept Praying – Part 3: Profession of Faith

My transformational moment

Six months after I read Say Yes! Dad invited me to a Palau outreach in Jamaica. While I had absolutely no interest in going to an evangelistic gathering, I reasoned, I love my folks. I love to travel. And I love to fish. And, then, to make the invitation even more enticing, it was freezing at the time where I lived (Boston). The thought of traveling to warm Jamaica was quite appealing.

I was 27 years old when I listened to Dad tell the Jamaican crowd about the difference that Jesus Christ makes in a life. I had heard that message hundreds of times before, but for the first time I sincerely wanted that difference. I made a profession of faith that day.

Despite my profession of faith and getting involved in Bible study, I did not feel a real sense of intimacy with the Lord. I’d ask Him, Why is this not working for me? I’m really sincere.

And then the Lord mercifully opened up my eyes to see what was keeping me from Him in an intimate way. I had never verbally confessed my sin. I just wanted it to go away. I finally apologized to my parents for the many ways that I had gone against not only their teaching, but also the Lord’s. It was a radical, 180-degree turnaround for me-a transformational moment.

What has happened in the last 14 years can only be attributed to the Lord’s amazing grace. I am following in Dad’s footsteps as a world evangelist and teacher. Me, the kid who once wanted the world much more than Jesus Christ.

Think about your moment of conversion – when you finally surrendered to God and His will for your life. What struggles did you experience in the days and weeks following? How did God gently draw you closer to Himself?

NASA astronauts may soon be able to 3D-print pizzas in space

NASA astronauts may soon be able to 3D-print pizzas in space, thanks to technology built by Columbus and Silicon Valley-based startup BeeHex. American startup BeeHex, born from a NASA project, is set to soft launch its flagship 3D Chef robot, which can print pizzas in less than five minutes.

BeeHex's flagship Chef 3D robot — which can print 12-inch pizzas in less than five minutes — could mean that space travellers will have a more terrestrial alternative to freeze-dried, prepackaged meals that are designed for nutrition and ease of consumption in microgravity.

In addition to producing a range of toppings from fresh ingredients, Chef 3D can fabricate gluten-free and custom-shaped pizzas, according to BeeHex. Like other 3D printers, Chef 3D connects to a computer that tells it which dough, sauce, and cheese to use.

The cartridges are filled with all the necessary ingredients, and the robot's nozzle starts layering liquefied dough, followed by sauce, toppings, and melted cheese.

The reason pizza was chosen as one of the first foods to be 3D-printed is because it involves layering ingredients, which suits the capabilities of the technology, BeeHex said. Unlike traditional additive manufacturing technologies, Chef 3D relies on pneumatic systems to move ingredients around.

While BeeHex was born out of a NASA project — NASA provided a $125,000 grant to Systems and Materials Research Consultancy to research how 3D printing could be used to make food — the startup is focusing on broader commercial applications in places like theme parks, festivals, shopping malls, and sports arenas.

It recently closed a $1 million seed funding round led by food automation specialist and Donatos Pizza founder Jim Grote to support commercial development and deployment.

BeeHex's pre-production prototypes have been exhibited at various conferences, with a soft launch slated for later in the year. The startup will be working with pilot customers in the food business to test the efficacy of the technology.

The startup's co-founders, Anjan Contractor, Chintan Kanuga, Jordan French, and Ben Feltner, as well as investors, are looking to provide printing solutions to high-volume pizza restaurants like Domino's and Pizza Hut.

BeeHex hopes that in the near future, 3D-printed meals will be ordered via an app, with customers also having the ability to customise meals according to their preferences.

While consumers are yet to fully digest the idea of 3D-printed food, there is interest among food companies to adopt the technology. In July last year, for example, London saw the arrival of a restaurant celebrating 3D printed food, furniture, and cutlery.

For three days and three special meals, pop-up restaurant Food Ink took up temporary residence in a Shoreditch side street to showcase the versatility of 3D printing.

The global market for 3D printed food is anticipated to be driven by a need for mass customisation, as 3D printing saves time, labour, and waste.

Did God Plan for Evil to Exist in the World?

We can choose to walk in God’s ways or we can choose to turn from Him.

“God wants everyone to be saved and to fully understand the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:4

In the beginning, God created the heavens, the earth and all of the things in it. When God created people, he gave us free will. That means we can choose to walk in God’s ways or we can choose to turn from Him. Choices led to evil entering the world but, originally, God made a perfect and peaceful world.

Not Choosing God
The Bible records that God gave Adam, the first man, specific instructions to avoid “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil” (Genesis 2:17). However, Adam chose to disobey God’s instructions. As a result, “sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death” (Romans 5:12). God didn’t intend for Adam to eat the fruit. That’s why God warned him. We can see that evil exists in the world because people choose to turn away from God, not because God wants evil in the world.

The Example of the Potter
Did God create us to be bad? No; God created people to be “in His own image” (Genesis 1:27). The book of Isaiah compares God to a potter and us to clay. A potter crafts clay into a good vessel that he desires. The potter doesn’t create the vessel to become corrupted by mold, and God didn’t create us to become corrupted by sin. Just as the potter doesn’t want his vessel to be smashed, God doesn’t want His people to perish.

Built for God’s Purpose
People have had the option of disobeying God ever since the original sin; but that is not what He wants us to choose. Sin separates us from God, but God wants to be with us. That’s why He sent Jesus to save us from our sins. People sin because “they have no fear of God” (Psalm 36:1), but God said, “I have made [all who claim Me as their God] for My glory” (Isaiah 43:7). Remember to choose God and obey His ways, so that we can bring Him glory. Even though God didn’t want us to choose evil, He still provided us with a way out through Jesus. Let’s be thankful and continue to choose goodness over evil.

Pray this week:

That God will strengthen you, so you can obey Him.

10 KEYS – WHAT DO YOU SEE ?

LIFE LESSONS FROM THE BOOK OF JOHN 8:38

"I speak that which I have seen with my father : and ye do that which ye have seen with your father"

10 KEYS – WHAT DO YOU SEE ?

1.If you fail to speak what you see by faith , you will always fail to receive , what the lord has prepared for you by faith . 2 Cor 4:13 (NIV)"It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak,"

2.What you see becomes spiritual reality , when you speak it . Gen 1:2 (NIV) " And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light."

3.Never speak what the enemy is showing you .Prov 31:32."If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth." Is a trap.

4.Never believe the thoughts from the enemy. lest you begin to speak what he is showing you. Prov 4:23 (NIV)"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."

5. The enemy will show you the facts, but God will always remind you of the truth .John 14:26 (NLT) "But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative–that is, the Holy Spirit–he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you."

6.. In the Kingdom of God we are not ruled by our circumstances , but by what we see with the eyes of faith. Hab 2:4 "Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith." We live by what we see with the eyes of faith !

7. What we see by faith , is as "real" as what we see in the physical .Matt 9:22 (ESV) "Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well." Once you see it , it is yours!

8.What you see by faith has the power to change the fact into the truth. Luke 2:7 (NIV) "Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim." Jesus never considered the fact , but worked with the truth.

9. What you see with the father is as real as the written word . John 1:1(NIV) "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." No difference. period!

10. If you delight in what the Lord shows you , you would receive what he has prepared for you . Isaiah 64:4"For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him."

BONUSES:

11. When God shows you a thing , he expects only one thing in return "believe only " so you can receive it . Luke 8:50 "But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole."

12. If you celebrate what you see , God will celebrate you .If you fail to celebrate what you see , you limit God from celebrating you. Matt 14:31 (NLT) "Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. "You have so little faith," Jesus said. "Why did you doubt me?" Don't doubt what you have seen with the father !

Personal quote:

" What you see , is what God has done , you only receive it by faith , if you believe it"

Prayer: Father help me to believe what I see with you in Jesus name , Amen.

You are blessed!

How to Listen for God’s Guidance

What are some ways God guides us in His will?

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105

All people long for direction and purpose in life. As Christians, we can ask the Lord to guide us; we do not have to live without purpose. What are some ways God guides us in His will? How should we be listening for His leading?

Get Quiet with God and Examine Your Desires
Hearing God’s guidance begins with our minds and hearts. The Bible reminds us to “be still” (Psalm 46:10) as we listen for His leading, and to “be transformed by the renewal of your mind” (Romans 12:2). The Scriptures are full of prayers you can use to ask God to focus on Him, such as: “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!” (Psalm 139:23). Genuinely seek the Lord and “ask our generous God” (James 1:5) to put your thoughts in line with His desires for you.

Ask Yourself: Would Jesus Think This Way?
It’s easier to hear God when your thoughts are in line with His. Choosing God as the ruler of your thoughts is important. Jesus said, “whatever is in your heart determines what you say” (Matthew 12:34). We must also put God as the ruler of what we say, because “The tongue can speak words that bring life or death” (Proverbs 18:21). Again, we can look to Scripture for prayers that God will guide our words: “Let the words of my mouth be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord” (Psalm 19:14). Seek God’s guidance for what you say; think carefully before you speak, making sure each idea is in line with God’s teaching.

Let God’s Word Guide You
Thinking and speaking God’s word helps us live it out! The Bible promises that you can “seek His will in all you do” (Proverbs 3:6) and depend on Him to guide your paths. As you seek God’s guidance for your actions, pray back to God the requests found in the Psalms: “Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness”; “Teach me Your way, O Lord”; “Teach me to do Your will, my God!” (Psalms 5:8, 86:11, 143:10). God can build up your life so that depending on His leading is second nature!

Pray this week:

…that God will help you obey His guidance.
